Information for young women

To take part, you need to be aged 16-25 years, identify as a young woman, and have been out of education, employment, or training for one month or more. You also need to be living in Sussex, Kent, or Norfolk. If you are someone who supports a young woman that you think might be interested in taking part, you are welcome to contact us on behalf of the young woman.

The Looking Forward Project involves:

  • Meeting with the researcher a few times, the time and location of these meetings will be flexible
  • If you are happy to, we’ll ask you to sign a consent form and answer some questions to check the project is right for you
  • We’ll then ask you to answer some more questions about your health and wellbeing
  • Then you will be randomly selected to go into one of two groups (random means decided completely by chance)

HOPEFUL TOGETHER

You would start using the HOPEFUL workbook. You would have support from a mentor that you choose, e.g., your aunt, a sports coach, or a youth worker. You and your mentor would decide together how the mentoring would work. You would use HOPEFUL for up to 16 weeks.

HOPEFUL FUTURE

You would continue to receive any support you are already receiving.

At the end of your time in the project, you would receive access to the HOPEFUL package to use however you like.

  • Then you’ll be invited to answer some more questions about your health and wellbeing after 16 weeks and 12 months later
  • You might also be invited to take part in an interview to talk about your experiences of the project in a bit more detail
  • You could receive up to £80 in shopping vouchers for taking part

More information about being involved in the project is available in the information sheet and video.

Ask the research team to get in touch with you to tell you more about the project and how to get involved
