Support for your mental health and well-being:

  • Speaking to the GP about any concerns or support needs is a good first step.
  • West Sussex Talking Therapies is an NHS psychological therapy service for adults (18+) with anxiety and depression in West Sussex. Young people can refer  themselves via the website (www.westsussextalkingtherapies.nhs.uk) or ask a GP to make a referral. 
  • Pathfinder West Sussex provides advice, information and a range of local services to support people in West Sussex with their mental health and wellbeing. Visit www.pathfinderwestsussex.org.uk
  • West Sussex Mind provide local mental health support for young people aged 16-25. Visit www.westsussexmind.org/help_and_support/specialist-services/support-for-younger-people
  • Young Minds provides information specifically for young people. Visit: www.youngminds.org.uk.
  • E-Wellbeing is a a digital wellbeing service and participation group for young people across Sussex, run by YMCA DownsLink Group. Visit www.e-wellbeing.co.uk/

Support in a crisis:

  • Call NHS Direct on 111 and select the mental health option to be connected to a 24/7 mental health crisis line. This is known locally as Sussex Mental Healthline.
  • Visit a Staying Well ‘crisis cafe’, providing walk-in crisis mental health support for adults aged 18+ in Crawley and Worthing. For details of your local centre, visit: www.sussexpartnership.nhs.uk/your-mental-health/getting-help/staying-well-services
  • Shout provide free, confidential, 24/7 text-based support for anyone struggling to cope. Text ‘SUSSEX’ to 85258.
  • Go to A&E or call an ambulance on 999 if a young person is at immediate risk of seriously harming themselves or already has done so and requires urgent medical attention.

  • West Sussex County Council (WSCC) provide information and support on a range of local issues including housing, homelessness, benefits, and social care support for keeping children and adults safe and well.   • YMCA Downslink provides advice and support to local young people on issues including sexual health, benefits and money, drugs and alcohol, employment, education, and training, and family mediation.
